You will also get to see how art can create an impact, with MonkeyBiz’s beadwork. Beyond the city, this tour will take you to beautiful Stellenbosch where you can see the famed Dylan Lewis Sculpture Garden and the subterranean Equus Gallery, before you head to Delaire Graff and Tokara estates, for more art and some wine tasting. Finally, you’ll get to explore the Norval Foundation’s second location at Boschendal.

Itinerary

On arrival at Cape Town International Airport you will be met and transferred through to your hotel. Once you have checked in and settled into your room, your guide will collect you and take you to the Norval Foundation, which is in the Steenberg area of Cape Town. Here you will enjoy a self-guided tour of the various exhibitions, as well as the sculpture garden. (Please note that a private tour can be arranged for you at an additional cost). This is the first of the Norval Foundation visits – a second one is situated in the winelands.

NORVAL FOUNDATION

A centre for the expression of art & culture, the Norval Foundation is dedicated to the research, education and exhibition of visual art forms from South Africa in the 20th & 21st century. The sculpture garden, outdoor amphitheatre and purpose-built exhibition spaces are designed in such a way to that they offer visitors a multisensory experience. This is the first of two Norval Foundation **Closed Tuesdays**

After your tour, enjoy your first wine tasting of South African wines at the nearby Steenberg Vineyards.

After breakfast will be collected by your guide and taken on a tour with a couple of art-inspired stops. Your first stop will be the Zeitz MOCCA, which is situated in the V&A Waterfront, Silo District. Here you can conducted a self-guided tour with the use of earphones and your mobile phone. (A tour with the resident art guide can be arranged for you at an additional cost).

ZEITZ MOCCA

The Zeitz MOCCA is an institution that is focused on making a significant contribution to the development of contemporary art in Africa. There are constantly rotating temporary art exhibitions, as well as a selection of permanent art works that form part of the Zeitz MOCCA Collection. **Closed on Mondays**

After your tour, your guide will take you to the Company Gardens, found in the heart of Cape Town. The garden is where you’ll find the South African National Gallery, which houses a very impressive collection of South African, African, British, French, Dutch and Flemish art. Enjoy a stroll in the garden afterwards, where you’ll possibly be accompanied by the local wildlife (squirrels), and also enjoy a busker trying to earn a bit of money. Lunch can be arranged for you at The Company Garden’s Restaurant. (Lunch for your own account)

Overnight at Floreal House on bed & breakfast basis

An early start to the day will get you up Table Mountain. Here you can spend some time enjoying the views and learning about the fauna and flora on top of this iconic mountain. Once the cable car has safely returned you to your waiting guide, you will continue to MonkeyBiz in the Bo-Kaap area. MonkeyBis is an economic upliftment project that is dedicated to empowering women to become financially independent by reviving the traditional craft of African beadwork.

Your next stop will be WHATIFTHEWORLD. This is a contemporary recognized art gallery which has local and international recognition. Part question, part purpose and part statement, the name itself anticipates the gallery’s program and has a strong focus on Africa and the spread of African art throughout the world. Lunch can be arranged for you at one of the traditional Cape Malay restaurant in the famous Bo-Kaap. (Lunch costs not included)

After lunch and a stroll through the Bo-Kaap, with its cobbled streets and colourful houses, you will have the choice of returning to your guest house or to do some shopping / sight-seeing on your own.

A lazy start to the day – you’ll be collected and taken through to Woodstock, the semi-industrial area on the outskirts of Cape Town’s CBD, for a two-hour walking tour. Here you will be introduced to the amazing street art, murals and galleries with a local guide who are experts of the art in the area.

Once you have checked out of your guesthouse, you’ll be transferred through to Stellenbosch, where you’ll be spending the next two nights.

Enjoy a tour of the famous Dylan Lewis Sculpture Garden before getting to Stellenbosch. Here you can spend a leisurely couple of hours exploring the garden or we can arrange a private tour for you (cost not included). **Closed Sundays & Mondays**

Your next stop is the subterranean Equus Gallery on the Cavalli Estate. This gallery offers an art gallery, as well as sculpture spaces. Eventhough the gallery is underground, the ceiling has been specially designed to simulate daylight. **Closed Mondays & Tuesdays**

Overnight at Spier Wine Farm on bed & breakfast basis

Heading deeper into the winelands today, stops will include Delaire Graff Estate. The estate serves as a gallery for over 400 pieces of art belonging to Laurence Graff and the landscaped garden are a living canvas for the sculptures. Enjoy a wine tasting at this beautiful estate. Next you’ll head of to the neighbouring Tokara, a wine estate that believes in a connection between art and good wine. Enjoy a wine tasting and some leisure time, while taking in all the art on the estae.

From Tokara, head to Boschendal Wine Estate, where you’ll visit the second Norval Foundation. Rotating exhibitions at the Manor House on this wine estate will showcase the best of South African and African art.

Lunch can be booked for you at Boschendal Wine Estate before heading back to your accommodation. (Cost for lunch not included)

Today your will be transferred through to the Cederberg Wilderness Area, which is known for it’s characteristic jagged sandstone mountain range and the many Bushmen (san) rock art.

Overnight at Simbavati Cederberg Ridge on a full board basis (breakfast, lunch & dinner)

Spend the day exploring the area, either enjoying the two daily activities included in your rate, one of which is a Rock Art excursion.
