To help you with your planning, here are some of the thrilling things that you can do.

  • Go Shark Cage Diving in Gansbaai

Gansbaai is pretty legendary for its incredible shark cage diving experiences. The Great White Shark is a fairly common sighting along the South African coast and it has a reputation for being one of the most fearsome and beautiful of all the sharks.

For some travellers, taking a dip with danger is the ultimate thrill. While shark cage diving is going to have your heart pumping just about out of your chest, there is actually very little danger involved. This activity, as the name quite obviously gives away, is done from the safety of a cage. Divers climb into a very secure steel cage, along with their gear, and are then lowered into the waters from the side of a boat. Sharks are then encouraged to swim up to the cage for the divers to see.

  • Bungee Jumping from Bloukrans Bridge

This is absolutely not for the faint hearted. Bungee Jumping from Bloukrans Bridge is one of the most exhilarating experiences and the bridge is famous for being known as the highest bungee jump bridge in the world! Taking the leap from 216 meters is something you’ll not forget soon, and the view from the top to the bottom is simply magical.

  • Hiking and Rock Climbing in the Drakensberg Mountains

Not wanting to give yourself a terrible fright? Going hiking and rock climbing might be the better option for you. The iconic Drakensberg Mountains are among the most alluring, majestic and otherworldly mountains on the planet. They are unlike anything you’ve ever seen before, and if you are an outdoorsy kind of person, booking a hiking or rock climbing adventure here is a must.

  • Zip-lining in Tsitsikamma National Park

Tsitsikamma National Park is the beautiful green oasis like forest along South Africa’s Eastern Cape coast. It is known for its stunning scenery and protected forests and for those who want to spend their time outdoors, it is a must visit destination. One of the most thrilling things you can do when you are travelling in this part of the country is to go zip-lining.

There are a couple of Zip-lining tours in Tsitsikamma National Park and some are shorter than others. The tours will have the adventurer flying through the trees and sailing over the rivers. Tours are affordable and for all ages, making such an adventure perfect for the family.

When booking your South African holiday, make sure that you research the various areas you’ll be travelling through, to find out more about which activities you can take part in.
